for closers, basically one-inning specialists, I think the common stats work pretty good. Saves, opportunities, innings, ERA/Whip, K.
Perkins doesn't have a lot of years as a closer but he looks...

I think you are dreaming :)
I can understand your concerns and have some of my own, but I also have some serious issues with the data in the articles you linked to. For starters, we could all try...

I agree with every word..
..and then I realized, if true, that's quite an indictment on Mauer as a backstop. Considering our ERAs in recent years. So there's got to be more to it.
Gibby Gibby Gibby.. dang you
Beachy and Medlen too.

Do you suppose the Pohlads could lure Nolan Ryan up here to get our pitching straightened out!

does this mean Kubel's HR off of Price will carry more weight than it otherwise might.. Just wondering what you think.

Maybe Worley just needs to pitch on 12 days rest?

good catch Leviathan. Antony pretty much did imply that some guys get blocked and other don't, in the context of saying the Twins want to give Plouffe more time to develop at the major league level...

So I think cost was a factor. I think 30$ million is a lot of money even for a baseball ownership. What diehard said a while back: Twins just didn't think Santana was worth what he was asking, Twins...

I love the blocking debate but you remember Doumit had 100+ starts last year..

Can we swing a deal for Delmon? We know he can hit.

What are you giving us for an encore, John!

Buxton's a Sir guy too, FWIW.

Old guy, yes, I think it could be at least competitive. You don't need five starters in the post season. I get what you are saying Trautmann.
Seems to me though that the best rotations in baseball...

and for the record, I love this rotation too.. especially if Gibson is in there..
03-09-2014, 07:16 PM
But I'm happy with the rotation as it stands now!1
1. With the caveat that either Correia or Pelfrey does pitch well to start the season, and that one of Gibson, Worley, or Diamond does actually...

I wish they had upgraded the offense, but I think the Hughes signing is a shrewd one. I expect him to do very well.
03-09-2014, 06:48 PM
You are right. I think the bottom line is that they still want to improve.
03-09-2014, 06:45 PM
Not April 1, 2016, but maybe September 30, 2015.
I'm just having a little trouble figuring out what our plan is. I'd sign a hitter, if anything. Even Drew.
Three years -- if this report has...

No I was at that game. I talked to a bunch of other people who were too. :)

If Pinto is the future catcher, then I feel he needs to be in the majors. So agree with JL's original post. Maybe Pinto should have come up in 2012 too. I don't know what his 40-man status was in...
Somebody photoshopped a squirrel over where the ball was.

Hopefully the free agent signings light a fire under those 3 or 4 guys we are all arguing about. I prefer to see Gibson win the last spot, regardless of options. Worley's gonna have to turn the page...
