My first look at this thread, a lot to respond to.
-First, I would expect a 6-7 win improvement, not hope. Expect. It seems like a reasonable expectation that Nolasco, Hughes, and Meyer will pitch...

There is only one winner at the end of a year but I have hard time calling the other 29 teams failures. That's a harsh grading curve.
I know that's a simplistic and un-nuanced view of what some...

We could probably achieve that by trading Buxton/Sano/Meyer for established players in the final year of their contracts who intend to explore free agency no matter what. Would 88 wins that way be...

I would call this season a success if by mid season there were no more threads here about adding the latest player DFA.

I also measure by the W/L column. Many of the other factors mentioned above are a measure of progress but to me, they don't indicate success.
I'd consider 75 or more wins to be progress. I'd...
TOP 30 Prospect Rankings 2014
1. Byron Buxton (Called up in September - handles struggles)
2. Miguel Sano (MLB starter by July)
3. Alex Meyer (MLB Starter off and on in 2014)
4. Kohl Stewart...

1) Switch-hitters would figure here. They can be regulars and always enjoy the platoon advantage. 2) From point 1, this is why I regard K Morales as very desirable for the Twins. I love the idea...

Callis, whom had Buxton/Meyer as the #2 pitcher/hitter combo, went further to name his top 13 hitter/pitcher combos. Not only do we have Buxton/Meyer at #2 but he says he would have Sano/Stewart at...

He is going to work with Joe on plate discipline, and he knows that it's important to walk. Rob Plummer said, "I've been doing this for 20 years, and I think Miguel could walk 100 times a year. I...

There is 250 and there is 250. Sano looks fine at 250. This is a press photo from the TwinsFest with him and Buxton:
Does not look like he is...

This is the same deal Felix Hernandez received when you add in the $20M post fee, I think only Verlander and Kershaw make more. For a guy that has never pitched here and who scouts say does not...

Christopher Crawford, one of the two writers who helps Keith Law around draft season, released his top 14 Twins prospect list last night. He does great work. The list is very interesting with a...
I would take our 11-15 against any team's:
Again, Dozier showed an ability to hit in the minors. Florimon has never shown a similar ability at any level over a full season.

For the most part that "competition" would be between a bunch of AAAA guys anyways (DeDuno- Who is prob hurt anyways, Diamond-AAAA, and the rest)
I think Gibson starts in AAA regardless this year,...
Question: has one pitcher, Tanaka, really held up FA for all the remaining SP on the market as teams scramble to bid for him? I mean, it's now past the first of the year, and arguably, the top three...

And he's LEFT HANDED...he is tall and built...and left handed. He allegedly has a great feel for pitching is a pretty bright mate...and did I mention he is LEFT HANDED. I want to do dirty, possibly...
The Twins must develop pitchers with service time this year.
Worley has better projections than Pelfrey because they are based on 3-4 years and Worley has been the better pitcher over that longer...

I love it (only because it's a minor league deal). Yes, he is competing with a handful of other LH power hitting DHs that need to be platooned. If we're only filling a part time DH/PH off the bench,...
First the Cards were lucky to have their ace, Wainwright, come back from surgery. Second they did a great job identifying young pitchers for the draft. Then of course developing them in the minor...

Eh, I don't buy it. Terry Ryan hasn't been hosed on a trade in a very long time. The closest he has come lately is the Worley-Mays/Revere trade but there's still a lot of time left before the jury...
Perfect 3 year stopgap to Trea Turner
I'd make that trade. But the 2nd round pick would have to throw in about 7 million. ;)
I think the point would be trading a second round pick, that might someday play in the major leagues, for someone who WILL play in the major leagues...now...seems like a fairly easy call.
