Matt Capps is 30 now, and he was once traded for something that mattered, and he really wasn't much better than a setup man. Does that count?
(yeah yeah, revisionist history.)

I was thinking the same thing last night when I read some of these comments. If anything, I remember many, many loud voices saying Burton was "untouchable" or one of the guys we absolutely shouldn't...
I was just gonna say, that's an insult to hitters who are actually below average. Florimon is atrocious.

This thread got way more active once the Twins started losing...disappointing or encouraging?

Ump says "It's cold! Let's get outta here quick"

My MLB.tv is being complete garbage tonight. Figured it was my PS3 connection but maybe not.

Nothing like the sweet, sweet smell of playing not to lose.

Is Florimon the worst bunter ever?
04-15-2014, 08:19 PM
I can't imagine the number of times he's skipped batting practice "because I've got this singles thing down cold!"

Seriously. I'm assuming the money I pay to MLB.tv goes straight into Joe's no-HR-power pockets

If Mauer were really worth $23MM he would have hit a HR there.

Dozier following the footsteps of 2013 Willingham. OBP now 160 points higher than his AVG

That play by Bautista is why I would rather that Hicks starting getting on base more rather than have him sit out a couple days...

Hughes throws a terrifying number of pitches up in the zone.
04-09-2014, 08:19 PM
That sometimes/very often he gets pitched around, especially late & close situations.
04-09-2014, 08:14 PM
I think he tries to get a good pitch to hit in every single at bat. I understand people want him to swing at the first pitch more often, but he just doesn't. The dude gets on base at a ridiculous...
04-09-2014, 08:10 PM
I don't see anyone suggesting that idea.

A hit is always better than a walk. A walk is always better than swinging at bad pitches and striking out or popping up or grounding out to 2nd.
04-09-2014, 08:05 PM
Tell ya what, I'll take the guy who goes 2 for 4 and gets on base 4 times in a game. You can have the guy who makes bad decisions and chases pitches. We'll see who comes out ahead...
04-09-2014, 08:03 PM
This is an absurd thing to say. You'd rather he swung at bad pitches in the hope that...he accidentally got a hit? I guarantee if he did swing at those pitches, the Mauer criticizers would be right...
04-09-2014, 03:36 PM
Welp, probably shoulda just won it in the bottom of the 9th.

Rallying from down two to tie, and then leaving the bases loaded, is such a Twins thing to do. Love it! Yay for hope of a win where there was almost none just 10 minutes ago
04-09-2014, 03:03 PM
Sticky: Yeah Twins!
04-09-2014, 03:02 PM
Sticky: But he racks up so many saves!!!

1. I agree nearly every manager will do the same thing.
2. Conventional wisdom doesn't make it the correct decision.
3. I'm still fairly sure that going from 1st/2nd no out to 2nd/3rd one out makes...
