Our Assistant GM, Rob Antony, does a tremendous job in negotiating contracts. He has a great feel for when to give and take. Really fun to listen to him negotiate.

The assignment changes during the course of the season. In the months leading up to the Trade Deadline it is find orgs that fit with us and then find players in their organization. As you get more...

Nobody. Have a few things going on at work right now. Plus, I thought it was just a Friday afternoon thing last week.

I guess I think of it like this. Statistics tell you what happened. Pitch f/x helps explain why it happened.

Thanks for picking me up Seth. I think we also moved a kid name, Omar Burgos, from 3B to pitcher in about 2003 or so.

I played basketball there from 1997 to 1999. I played for current coach Chris Conger. Go Foresters!

I am at every home game plus Spring Training, maybe go on a road trip each season, and the try to watch as many of our games and other games as possible. I try to balance that with some type of home...

1. Grimes was an infielder who became a catcher. He had a pretty solid year in his first year as a catcher. Let's let him settle in there before we move him to the mound. Sound good? We have had a...

I noticed you had mentioned defensive shifts before on here so we are really working on those right now. Anything else you have fun watching that we should add into our analysis?

I went to the University of St. Thomas for my first two years and then transferred to Lake Forest College about 45 minutes north of Chicago for my last two years. I returned to UST to get my MBA....

Do you know the background on OPSBI?

I keep my work to the baseball side of things but we do have business analytics department as well that is separate from what we do.

Obviously Pitch fx revolutionized not only the analytics world but scouting as well. The amount of information we have been able to pull from this is amamzing.
A relatively new company TrackMan...

Nice try. Creative line of questioning though.

I scout the AL Central and I work closely with our pro scouting director and VP, Player Personnel on professional scouting - maintaining knowledge of the 29 other clubs. I work closely with Terry and...

I don't think I quite understand the question but I think the answer is no.

Terry has answered this question repeatedly. Let it go!

I CAN tell you this. I believe the largest department is nine. The smallest is 0. We are somewhere in-between.

It's a good avenue to evaluate their work and understand their skill sets and interests.
I can't answer that question. The Orioles Coordinator of Analytics is a woman. After that I'm not sure.
Obviously we were not able to get through the year with the above mentioned pitchers. This is why pitchers like Correia and Pelfrey were necessary. Veterans who can at least take the ball every 5th...
