Ortiz goes deep again. If I were Pohlad, Molitor would receive an immediate field promotion after Gardenhire experienced a tragic accident that I was the only witness to.

Dirt shocked not by the Twins' refusal to IBB him, but rather than that it happened again...

So, Duensing and which filler player gets it done?

The Twins didn't think David Ortiz was a MLB baseball player, so he plays like the World Series MVP that he is, whenever he plays against the Twins.

Maybe it's just Twins pitching. He wasn't hitting in another stratosphere when he faced major league pitching.

This is unbelievable. Ortiz is on fire (or steroids). He's like the only kid in your gym class who plays baseball and when you play softball, he hits a home run every time he bats.

But I guess this is just karma for the Twins. Get rid of a really talented player, he bites you back. Hard.

My reaction as well. Made me think that Gardy is ready to be done with him for now, especially in light of his earlier comments.

Because nobody thinks the Twins should issue IBBs.

Touche. But the Thielbar pitch wasn't even a cookie. Jim Thome was great at 38, but never had a streak quite like this.

There is a distinct possibility you might have to update this quote after the series

I was young at the time but someone jog my memory, Ortiz was pretty bad when he was here wasn't he? And didn't he refuse to follow the TK other way plan? I want to just think it was bad luck he worked out I mean Matt Lecroy and Brian Buchanon didn't go on to be Big Papi's.

Pretty sure the 38-year old will be rested in tomorrow's day game after a night game.

Maybe...but it's odd they kicked in just in time for the Twins series.

It's also possible he's just a good hitter.

Let's see, in two games you know who has 8 official ABs, 5 runs scored, 7 hits, 4 HRs, and 6 RBIs. By my calculation that comes out to be a 2.375 slugging pct.

    Not too shabby.

OPS's in his four full or partially full seasons with the Twins: .817 (age 22), .810 (age 24), .799 (age 25) and .839 (age 26).

He was actually pretty good when he was here.

Papi was very good here from 98-02. He had some injuries and missed some time but when he played he was very good.

Ortiz' second half of 2002 was every bit what he's done since he left. He was pretty good in 1998 as a rookie when he broke his wrist and then didn't get a chance in 1999 with Mienkiewicz winning the spot. Ortiz went 0 for 20 when he was called up in September that year. Then he was back full time in 2000 as the DH.
