    Fun With Numbers

//in remembrance of one of my favorite recurring BYTO threads// The Twins are at .500 or better for the first time since Oct 3, 2010.

I knew that was the case. I wonder if that was the longest active streak in baseball. I figure most teams, even horrible ones, have started a season 1-1 the past couple years.

Both Eduardo Escobar and Pedro Florimon are leading the team in batting average with .500.

More proof that the 9-spot in the lineup is the key to winning batting order construction.

Wilkin Ramirez is on line 3, requesting a little love too.

I considered putting him in there too, but seeing as he's actually on the roster because of his bat, and not in spite of it, I thought it was less remarkable.

Wher was your update on the last time the Twins were 666

The Twins are on pace to hit 108 home runs this year which would put them 2nd to last for team home runs in 2012!

In a completely related fun with numbers both Plouffe and Willingham are on pace to hit 54 home runs each!

Twins starters have averaged more than 6 innings per game with a collective ERA of 2.33.

The Tigers are on pace to hit 0 home runs this year. That will be the 8th lowest team total in MLB history.

Correction. 2.45. You'd think with such a small sample I'd do the math right.

Pedro Florimon's final 2013 Offensive Stat Line:

    AB's: 432
    Avg.: .375
    Doubles: 52

Hell, we have a modern day "Wee" Willie Keeler in our midst... minus the stolen bases and runs scored of course.
...and it's nice enough to make a man weep,
but I don't weep, do you?

I started this thread like a year ago, but I think it was "too soon"

when it was first started it slowly became "sad statistical facts" instead of "fun with numbers" which is intended to be a place to post manipulations of small sample sizes and unsustainable numbers etc.....so let that be a lesson everyone. Have "fun" with numbers.

These are positive, uplifting numbers. I think we need to put a different spin on the numbers.

Twins starters have a collective 2.95 K/9. That is dead last in the majors and is nearly half of the 2012 K/9 of 5.53. Twins starters were also dead last in K/9 last year.
