Candido Pimentel
Originally signed by the Twins in Feb, 2009, Candido Pimentel is in Elizabethton for the rookie season.
Listed at 5'11"/160, the switch-hitting Pimentel is at .357 after the first series of the season.
Pimentel played for the DSL Twins in 2009, hitting .293. Last 2 years, have had him in the GCL ,with a .265 avg in 2010(46 games) and in 2011, a .250 average in 45 GCL games.
3 rbi's already this season, half of 2011 total, with a triple among his first 5 hits.
Candido will turn 22 July 19, so this is a pretty big year for him. I wish him the best. Besides, how cool of a name is Candido?

5 games in 2 steals, a .911 OPS.
Early season stats look good when you're off to a hot start.

given his age, I'd put his stats with a grain of salt... older guys that dominate Elizabethon tend to flame out in Beloit.

Romy J would have contended for POY if he'd not missed time. The league leader in hitting had 4 HRs and 28 rbi, compared to 1/21 for Pimentel, and only stole 3 bags vs Pimentel's 16
Adam Walker's 14 HRs leads the league. The sluggers are not putting up outstanding AVG and are below 1.000 OPS
Jimenez played in 37 games so far with outstanding #'s but has missed too many games, else he'd be right there.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index...ins-prospects/ Mike Newman gives a mention of him, not that optimistic about his 2nd base skills. also describes him as a slap hitter. interestingly would like to convert him to a pitcher.. Kepler or Bubba Starling should have won the award.. not that it matters though.
