The Official 2013 Midwest League thread
So I know that the Twins have left Beloit, although I will still be going to games in Beloit, and I figured that I'd create this thread so that us from WISCO that attend games in Beloit have somewhere to talk about the season. The rest of this board will be dominated with Cedar Rapids talk, so lets try to keep that to minimum in this thread.

Of the remaining three MLB teams yet to be matched up with Class A affiliates, the As, Angels and Astros, I have to believe either the As or Astros would be the preferred choices. They've both had some fair success among their short-season teams, which would be where most of the talent would be coming from over the course of the expected 2-year PDCs that will be signed. The Angels, on the other hand, had short-season last-place division finishes that resembled their MWL results in Cedar Rapids this summer. It's hard for me to imagine their MWL affiliate being very competitive next summer anyway.

Astros and Angel's have had long history in QC (25 of their 51 years of affiliated baseball was with those 2 teams). Lunhow is the one who negotaited the deal with QC when the Cardinals were affiliated with them,QC will take Houston, Lunhow will tell them their attendance will boom with the #1 overall pick in QC and the deal will be done. The Angels have had meetings in Burlington and QC. The A's have had meetings in Quad Cities and Beloit, and a phone call to Burlington. The Astros have held meetings in QC and Beloit and a phone call in Burlington. It is pretty much a lock that Oakland ends up in Beloit next year, and that QC will chose Houston. Beloit will not return to Burlington because of issues between Burlington's owner, and the A's which cannot be healed ( I do not want to elaborate into this because the people who told me asked for the details to be kept quiet)

I think I'd like the A's organization if I were a minor league owner/GM. They have small/mid market approach of drafting and developing players and aren't going to be giving away their #1 draft pick to sign expensive free agents any time soon.

I hated to see the Twins leave Beloit. It was such a good fit. Beloit is a great town and the park is really player and fan friendly. Great classic minor league venue. I would like to see them come toy hometown, St Paul but that wouldn't make any sense logistically. Who, if anyone will take their place?
